I have the extended edition of Kingdom of Heaven on disk. Yet the theatrical version of Kingdom of Heaven's on HBO tonight, and what do I have on TV? :P Sadder still, I get HBO-E, which shows the same programming three hours earlier. So that means this is the second time I've had the theatrical KoH on TV tonight.

I think I'm having POTC: DMC withdrawal pangs. ;)

In good news, it's not yet 10pm and it's only 76F here! Yay! At least for now, the heat wave is over. :D

I wish ours was over. :/ It's 4:25am and it's 81. Which is a lot better than it was just a few days ago, but still, I'm not looking forward to being here twelve hours from now.

I hope your cool-wave lasts, though. I can be vicariously comfortable through you. [grin]

Last Saturday night it was 84 at 4:00am, so I totally understand how miserable you are. Cool wave is relative -- it's still supposed to be in the 90's this week, but that's much better than the 100's. Makes for much better sleeping at night.

Despite its flaws I still loved the theatrical version of KOH, even though cuts made to it could be considered criminal. It never deserved the complete drubbing it got from the critics. I want to go see DMC again too, though.

I've always liked the theatrical KoH, but yeah, some of the 15 and 20 second cuts really gutted the storyline. And really, leaving those in would have added what... about a minute or two extra to the movie? *grumble* Still, even with the cuts it's a much better movie than 90% of what's out there. It definitely didn't deserve the reviews it got. Dumb critics. :P I wonder how they'd like it if people reviewed the reviewers. ;)

Maybe I'll go see DMC again next weekend. :)

That might be interesting :P I read the review of DMC in The NYT and the guy actually said that you'd probably have fun but if you did it was because you'd been bullied into it. So you know, even if you like the movie, you're just wrong :P I won't get into how awful the reviewer in the NYT was to Orlando.

A friend of mine who's a pro writer likes to say that reviewers are failed writers. They can't sell anything they write themselves, so they spend all their time criticizing those who do. I wonder how many reviewers are failed actors/directors/screenwriters, and how much their own baggage weighs into their reviews. Probably a lot.

I didn't read the NYT review of DMC. I'd say box office results sort of trump any negative reviews though. And one of these days, I hope the reviewers quit picking on Orlando.

Oh yay, I'm glad you understand! *hugs* Sometimes it just seems so silly when the DVDs are *right there* and I could watch them anytime I wanted to. Indoctrinated into watching what's on tv, I guess. :P

Did you have a hot wave there in the States too ? It wasn't only in Europe then ! Here we had between 35 and 40 degrees celsius.
And talking about DMC, I went to see it last saturday night and I found it much better than the first POTC. The characters were deeper especially Will Turner who wasn't the naîve boy anymore. It was fun from the beginning till the end. And yes the reviewers should quit picking on because I think Orlando was fantastic in his role.

Yup, we had a heat wave throughout most of the US. Hot everywhere. I'd heard that it was hot in Europe too. But of course, there's no such thing as global warming. :P

I'm glad you liked DMC! Yes, they've allowed Will to become his own man, most definitely, and what a welcome change that was. :D Orlando was wonderful in the role.
