jasmineskie: (Will heat by me)

It's probably pathetic I'm happy that at 10:00 pm it's "only" 85F. I'm hoping that by the time I go to bed tonight, it won't be an oven upstairs and I might actually get a decent night's sleep. So then I might actually get up on time instead of late (like I did this morning), and then I might have time to make breakfast instead of eating cold tofu (like I did this morning) because I didn't have time for anything else. Lovely start to the day.

Although - GIP! Made by me, no less. ;) The heat wave and that pic of Orlando on the POTC2 set actually inspired me to make an icon that was more than just a simple crop job. Heh. No filching, please. (Not that anyone would want to *g*.)

And just so there's some point to this post, here's an excellent article about the Rings Exhibition in Wellington. Damn. I really wish I could go see this.

the rings exhibition really is awesome. not something i'd fly to new zealand for but well worth seeing if it ever comes back here. i got to see it in boston. i even glued my ears to be pointy! how fun. it was pretty cool to see the costumes. the one that sticks in my mind was galadrials sparkly white dress. in the film its not done justice. it was the most beautiful thing. every inch was tastefuly covered in sparkles, no sequins. it was amazing. the swords kicked ass too. i feel your pain with the heat though. its CRAZY! stay cool. have popsicles. and play with ice... you never know what might come of that :)

Just reading about some of the things in the exhibition -- Minas Tirath, the cave troll, all the costumes and weaponry. I'm such a behind the scenes geek. I love that kind of stuff.

It's amazing seeing costumes in person. Back when Planet Hollywood opened a local franchise, I loved wandering through just to see the costumes and props. Besides getting an idea of how short and tiny some actors and actresses are, it's all the details that don't show up on the screen.

And yeah... the heat. :P Not fun.

*dies* About 20 minutes ago, I just turned to [livejournal.com profile] darkrosetiger and said "hey! It's 83!" like it was some big deal. *crosses fingers for the country to just cool down a little.

I saw the Rings Exhibition in Boston when I was helping the above mentioned gf move. It was absolutely lovely and I wish I'd spent more time with it. This one sounds even more fabulous and I can only hope that a) they'll take it on the road again and b) it comes to NoCal. Or hell, I'd even head down to LA to see that.

By the weekend it's supposed to be only 90 here. *Only* 90. It sucks that 90 is a cooling trend. :P

I'd travel somewhere reasonable to see this exhibition too. I went to Seattle for the LOTR symphony -- so glad I did. So yeah, I hope they take this version of it on the road.

The Rings exhib was amazing when it came to London. It was really comprehensive and the room with the ring in was so cool! I'm sure my best friend and I pissed everyone off when we tried to look up (the model of) Legolas's tunic in one display, and tried to stroke the wax model of Boromir in the canoe. Yes, we are very immature! lol.

I'm hoping that by the time I go to bed tonight, it won't be an oven upstairs Yep, I know the feeling. Unfortunately, last night was just as hot as it had been in the day for us! I got no sleep!

Last night was still hot, but not quite so bad. Of course, it's supposed to be 102 here today, so I'm not counting on it being any better tonight. :/

How very cool that you got to see it when it came to London. :D I probably would have spent hours there.

Thanks! *hugs* And I did have better luck with breakfast this morning. :) Cold, plain tofu is just wrong on so many levels. :P

I was upset that I missed the exhibition here in the states then to make me further frustrated I missed it by a month or two when I visited New Zealand at Christmas last year. Te Papa is an amazing museum in itself. Lots of hands on and to make it even better it's FREE. Visiting the museum was a great way to spend our rainy first day in Wellington.

To make up for missing the exhibition, we did get to see a lot where the cast filmed and hung out both in Wellington and Queenstown. I have photos of myself at Amon Hen and my sister and I became "regulars" at Molly Malone's, a Welly bar that Sean Bean frequented during filming. (My icon is a photo of Lake Wakatipu sunset from our first night in QT. One of these days I hope to update my livejournal with the other photos.)

As amazing as the scenery is in the movie, New Zealand is even more beautiful in person. The people are friendly and the wine and food are first rate. I would return in a heartbeat.

I've heard from quite a few people that New Zealand is a wonderful place. I'd like to visit sometime, see all the places from the movies but also just to experience New Zealand. Your icon is gorgeous. I'd love to see other photos you took. :)

Darling what's pathetic is that your plea for cool air isn't alone. It has been ungodly hot around here too - so much so that I haven't been able to get much done in all the free days I've had lately.

It is so hard to sleep when it's this hot. Tofu for breakfast. *snorts* Now that's novel!

I live on green tea and it occurred to me yesterday in the A/C environs of work that that was the first cup I had had in days... If I could, I would send cool breezes to all of us...

When I don't get much sleep, I try to eat protein for breakfast. (Anything else just tends to slow me down/make me sleepy.) Usually protein's an egg, but I didn't have time to cook one yesterday. I had tofu in the fridge from a veggie/tofu thing I'd made the day before, so it was tofu for the protein fix, definitely *not* for the taste. :P

Thanks, sweetie! :D Luckily it's not quite as hot right now as it was when I made it. :)
