POTC2 day! I'll be going to see it this afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] loyaldreamer, who is back from Seattle. *hugs Loyal* The movie got a glowing review from Gene can'tspellhislastname on The Today Show this morning, and everyone on my flist who's already seen it seems to love it as well. So yay! Movie afternoon. :D

I've been listening to the score for POTC2. I bought it at Best Buy, so it has three extra tracks instead of the one extra track I saw on the CD in another store. Quite frankly, I could do without the extra tracks. They're all remixes of He's A Pirate. I'd rather just listen to the score music from the new movie, so I think I'll be zapping the extra tracks off my iPod.

In other news, I've been invited to submit a short story to a sexy drink themed erotica anthology. Good news, yes. Except... I don't drink much, so I'm rubbish at knowing sexy drink names. Anyone on my flist have any suggestions? I have to include the recipe for the drink along with the story (seriously), so probably nothing that anyone claims to own the copyright for.

ETA: I'm not fond of the way LJ displays my friends list these days. Although it's interesting to see who's never posted, it makes it almost impossible to actually find a friend this way. :/

There's a couple of cocktails with sexy names, but I'm not much of a cocktail drinker myself. Should be pretty easy to find recipes online though.

You should be able to see all your friends listed on the Edit Friends page I think. At least it wouldn't make much sense for LJ to cut those off at 500 too.

Thank you for the link, sweetie! *hugs* And yeah, I figured out I could look at friends through the edit friends page, but still... I kinda liked just looking at my user info page -- less steps. :/

From: [identity profile] mesnica.livejournal.com
Yeah, that's the 500 limit, any more than that and it goes to the link thing. 750 is the maximum limit of friends you can have on a personal account.
I just checked the FAQ entry for that and looked at your userinfo... if you're using your userinfo to check up on mutual friends (and since your friends of list is, that one should be too), then you can activate that list to show and have all your mutual friends listed on your userinfo.

since your friends of list is less than 500... my mind is faster than my fingers apparently *g*

That's a great idea, thank you! *hugs* I figured it had something to do with 500, because [livejournal.com profile] chaosmanor's account shows her friends list like that as well.

Hmmmm...depends what you're going to write about, but I have a few favs that I drink at parties. Sex on the Beach. Natch. I also like Blow Job and Cocksucking Cowboy, but maybe they're too obvious? I'd get an idea for a story first and then find a drink that fits. When I had my cocktail party a couple of months ago I discovered tons of great cocktails. On copyright, I have no idea if anyone owns copyright on cocktail recepies. Er.

Hope you enjoy Pirates! I loved it. :D

I loved Pirates! :D Awesome movie. :)

On copyright, I'm guessing they don't want us taking anything out of a printed book that's unique to that book. Like if Martha Stewart or that new girl who's all the rage on the cooking channels had recipes for drinks that were unique to them. Anything online though I think would be fair game.

Thanks for the ideas. :) I've never heard of any of them. Cocksucking Cowboy might be kinda fun. I'm hoping a unique drink name will spur an idea.

Does the drink have to have a sexy name or just be a sexy drink?

I can think of a bunch of ideas but it depends on how obvious they have to be.

Ah yes, if there is one thing I know it is....drinks? Lord.

I'm guessing a sexy name, since the examples given by the editor were Screaming Orgasms, Sex on the Beach, Slippery Nipples, Silk Panties, Virgin Mary, Wet Dream. From Maura's list, I'm thinking Caribbean Kiss or Wild Squirrel Sex might be kinda interesting. ;)

Am so not legal and am not going to comment on the drink names. *cough*

I'm not fond of the way LJ displays my friends list these days. Although it's interesting to see who's never posted, it makes it almost impossible to actually find a friend this way.

What do you mean, if I may ask? I just went and looked at your flist through your interface, and I don't see any difference; this sounds both intriguing and disturbing. Are you using the beta navigation scheme?

Date: 2006-07-08 02:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jasmineskie.livejournal.com
I don't mind you asking, although I have no idea what navigation scheme I'm using. I haven't changed my layout or preferences (or style for that matter) since I first got my journal nearly three years ago. What LJ does now when I look at my user info page, instead of giving me an alphabetical list of the names of my friends under "Friends," the display only shows tbe number of friends with a link that says "View Friends." When I click on the view friends link, I get a search page that says trained monkeys are working hard on my search, then I get a page that looks like this:

http://www.livejournal.com/directory.bml?s_fro=1&fro_user=jasmineskie

If that doesn't work for you, what it looks like to me is a page full of my friends names along with their default icons, arranged by order of last posted and how long ago they posted. This is not helpful when I'm trying to find a name alphabetically. :/

Sure, I can look up my friends alphabetically if I go into the edit friends page, but it's more steps to get there and it's kind of ridiculous. This only happened once my flist went over 500.

So, that's what's up with my flist display. :)

I don't drink either, but the one shot I do like is called a buttery nipple. It has Bailey's Irish Cream and Butterscotch Schnapps I think. I'm sure you could get a recipe online somewhere. Good luck with your story and have fun today.

Actually "buttery nipple" is the polite name of the drink. It's really called a Cock Sucking Cowboy. 1/2 Bailey's, 1/2 Butterscotch Schnapps. One of my fav. drinks.

If you put in a shotglass and top it with whipped cream, it becomes a Blowjob.

There's also a Long Hard Screw Against the Wall (which I have no idea what's in it)

Congrats on the anthology invite! That's wonderful! [boing!] I don't drink at all so I can't help with that, but it looks like a bunch of folks have already given you ideas. You'll have to let us know when the book comes out so we can dash out and get it. :)

I saw Pirates last night (well, Saturday night -- I still think of it as Sunday 'cause I haven't been to bed yet) and it was very cool. Not screamingly fantastic, but very cool. Most of the critics obviously got shuffled into the wrong theater when they went to see it. [wry smile]

I don't get what's up with the critics. I haven't read any bad reviews, although I heard they're out there. All I saw was the critic on The Today Show, the guy with the big mustache and frizzy hair, and he loved it.

I saw it again yesterday, and I picked up a lot more than I did the first time. Sure, there's lots of over the top action and screaming special effects, but there's a pretty good story going on too.

Check this out:

Rotten Tomatoes' Pirates Page

Rotten Tomatoes is a compilation site with lots of movie reviews (all the reviews they can scrape up, I imagine) and they assign an overall rating to movies based on what all the critics whose reviews they've gathered say. Note that they still have Pirates rated as "Rotten" despite the better than fifty percent positive; they require at least sixty percent positive reviews to rate a movie as "fresh." And the "Cream of the Crop," which is the major critics, only give it a forty-three percent positive rating.

It's funny, though -- people seem to either love it or hate it. There's not much in the middle.

The friends we went to see it with Sunday night were kind of "meh -- it was okay but I liked the first one better."

Thanks for the Rotten Tomatoes link. :)
